The owners of Oceania have been travelling to Indonesia since the 1970's and have been lucky to develop lasting relationships with the local craftspeople. Frequently they travel to Bali to search for unique new products and to work with established sources to build on prior business.

We have our own private label of clothing that is designed by us and produced exclusively for Oceania in small quantities. We work with an expert tailor, Ling, who runs the "factory" out of her home. During the many years of working with her, we have seen all five of her children grow up and go to college, we sadly watched her husband pass away from lung cancer, she has survived breast cancer and a masectomy, and we helped finance her buying property. She is a talented and hard working matriarch; Ling and her family are an integral part of the Oceania family.

As Oceania buys the crafts of the talented people in Bali, we promote the survival of their arts. The hand made batik cloth, lace and embroidery garments, woven baskets, wood carvings, beadwork, and silver work are all being replaced by mass produced, cheap products. By shopping at Oceania you are supporting the cottage industries that keep the craftspeople alive. Not only are the products high quality, but they are truly beautiful.
